An Effective Protocol for Rateless Coding aided Cooperative Communications

چکیده
In this paper, we study the bit error rate (BER) and the frame error rate (FER) performance for rateless coding aided cooperative communications using an effective protocol over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels. During the collaborative phase, the proposed protocol adopts an adaptive demodulation (ADM) scheme considered channel state and the partial cooperation scheme depending on whether or not the partner decodes correctly. ADM schemes have been considered before by Illanko et al., but therein the effect of channel state is not considered, because the receiver always demodulates three (or two) bits per symbol for the case of 16QAM signaling during two phases in cooperative communications. Taking channel state into consideration, the BER performance of the modified ADM scheme is investigated. The proposed cooperative protocol is studied with different partial cooperation parameters, such as 1/2, 1/4, and 1/8. Furthermore, the validity of the partial cooperative scheme over flat Rayleigh fading channels is also substantiated by simulation results in terms of throughput and FER performance.

Layered multimedia broadcast using rateless codes with progressive recovery over cooperative MIMO
This article proposes a novel scheme, based on unequal error protected rateless codes, for broadcasting layered multimedia over cooperative multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO). By taking advantage of both cooperation and broadcasting, we first present a two-phase cooperative MIMO broadcast scheme, which exploits distributed diversity in point-to-multipoint communication scenarios. Then, to en...
متن کاملThroughput Optimization in Rateless Coded Cooperative Relay Networks
By performing the encoding operation on several message packets, rateless coding in cooperative networks has the potential risk of processing information already available to the receivers. In this paper, the intermediate packet decodability of rateless codes is exploited to mitigate such redundant packet processing at the cooperating nodes. The message packets that are already decoded at the r...
متن کاملA Network-Coding Aided Road-Map of Large-scale Near-capacity Cooperative Communications
In the paper, we present a road-map towards a Nearcapacity Large-scale Multi-user Cooperative-communications (NLMC) system, where all the evolution paths converge to the construction of the NLMC system. More specifically, we will summarise all relevant schemes appearing on the road-map in the unified frame-work of forward error correction (FEC). Various Network Coding (NC) design paradigms are ...
متن کاملAmplify-forward and decode-forward cooperation relying on systematic Luby transform coded hybrid automatic-repeat-request
Systematic Luby transform (SLT) codes constitute rateless codes, which are capable of adaptively adjusting their code rate depending on the channel quality without any explicit channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters. SLTs are also suitable for space time collaboration-aided relay networks. In this study, an iterative decoding-aided SLT scheme is combined with 16 quadrature amplitud...
متن کاملReducing content distribution time in P2P-based multicast using rateless codes
In this paper a novel protocol for application level multicast, that is designed so as to exploit the advantages offered by rateless coding, is proposed. With rateless coding a set of k packets can be used to generate an arbitrary number of coded packets. Any set of slightly more than k coded packets can be used by a node in the network to recover the information. The proposed protocol is based...
